First and foremost, Weapon wishes each and every one of our friends a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year! As we step into 2025, we are excited to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the formation of Weapon, a remarkable journey marked by passion and commitment, minus a 25-year sabbatical!
To honor this momentous occasion, we are thrilled to announce the release of an ‘official bootleg’ live album, set to drop in February under the label (ONR) Obscure Nwobhm Releases. As Danny shared in an earlier post, the recordings are derived from an old cassette he unearthed a couple of years ago. This gem has since been digitized and expertly mastered, bringing to life a raw, authentic performance featuring the original lineup of Weapon at the very beginning of their career. The album captures the essence of our music during those formative years, offering fans a warts’n’all experience that showcases the energy and spirit of our live performances. All songs included on this release were recorded during our support slot on Motörhead’s extensive 32-date UK ‘Ace Up Your Sleeve’ Tour in 1980, a pivotal moment in our history.
In addition to the album release, the band has been hard at work writing new material for a fresh studio album. We are set to enter Wing Studios in Stockholm this coming February, where we will begin the recording process. This upcoming project promises to reflect our evolution as musicians while staying true to the roots that defined our early sound.
Moreover, we are excited to share that plans are already in motion for live shows in May. These performances are designed to coincide with the release of the new studio album, providing a fantastic opportunity for our fans to experience the music firsthand.
